Pictures you're allowed to "steal"
I'm sure you would never copy someone else's assignment and hand it in, and that you do your best to write information in your own words. But did you know that artists and photographers have copyright too? someone who went to the trouble of making a picture or diaghram owns that diagram so you can't use it unless they give you permission.
Look for a Creative Commons licence or a licence that is part of a package you (or the school) already own (like the clip art in Microsoft Office), and then you know you will not get into trouble for copying without permission.

The British Library [http://www.flickr.com/photos/britishlibrary/favorites/] has more than a million images from books, mostly from the C19th. You may find useful historical images here. A few of the more modern images might also be useful symbols for English representation tasks or for use in other subjects.
