Wide Reading Challenge
Research shows that students who read widely are more successful than students who read only a few of the same or the same sorts of books. Riverside Girls has a wonderful wide reading programme, but the best way to take advantage of these reading opportunities is to read a wide variety of books in different styles and genres.
To help with this, each term your class will be assigned a particular reading list. To complete the wide reading challenge, you need to accumulate stars from at least 5 different genres. Stars are awarded according to the style and vocabulary of the books, so it is a good idea to read books aimed at or slightly above your reading level. A comment about your reading habits will be inclusing in the outcomes for your repiortsYour class will be told how many stars they need to read; more stars will receive more awards. If you've chosen a seriously difficult book you think should have more stars, come and persuade me to change the rating!
