Science for Young Minds [http://kids.frontiersin.org/articles/] is an outstanding resource because all the articles were written by reputable scientists but edited by kids. This means they are easier to read than many other articles but still trustworthy sources. You can become a reviewer by contacting the site through the "About" page. Ms Carmyn would be happy to mentor you as a reviewer if your science teacher is too busy.
New Moon for Girls [http://www.newmoon.com/content/?id=1006&] is an award-winning feminist magazine for girls aged 8-13. All of the articles are edited and most are written by young girls like you. You did not need to be a member to submit articles, but I would suggest looking at some old copies of the magazines (There's always a free copy of the latest issue on the website and Ms Carmyn has lots more) to maximise your chances of being published. Make sure you story or article fits one of the themes in the guidelines.
Historicool [http://www.historicool.com.au/main/page_contribute_junior_historians.html] is a history magazine aimed at students in years 5-8. Every issue includes an article by a student historian. You can write about anything you like and will win a special prize if you are chosen to be published. For your best chance at being published I suggest you research some weird or wacky part of history, especially if it is about Australia. They are also looking for students to review books with historical themes [http://www.historicool.com.au/main/page_contribute_write_a_review.html].

Pages you can access at school or home
These pages are not blocked at school - you can access them anywhere. The security on these sites varies, so be very careful not to open an account in your real name or give out any personal information. I use a the same pseudonym (made up name) and password for all of these kinds of sites so I don't forget it.

Wallwisher gives you a virtual space where you can post short text notes in the same way that you could put post-it notes onto a notice board in your classroom. As well as text notes you can add images, video and links to other websites and share your wall with people all over the world. It is an excellent tool for group tasks, especailly if your group can't get together very often.

Pages you can access outside school
These are useful sites. However, many of these sites are blocked by the DEC net nanny so you cannot access them through the school server. The security on these sites varies, so be very careful not to open an account in your real name or give out any personal information.
Glogster allows you to create your own online digital poster, publish and present your work.
Weebly is a simple drag-and-drop website creator - in fact it's the one I used to make this site. One of the4 excellent things about this site is the ability to download copy-right free pictures (from Creative commons) using their search function - the website will automatically reference the pictures at the bottom of the page. You can make two free weebly sites, but if you want to make more you need to delete one of them or pay an annual membership fee. If you're using this site for assignments and want to keep your old assignments, save each page of your site before deleting it. It won't work like a website, but you will be able to keep all your hard work.
